Green or woodland burials offer an alternative to traditional funerals or cremations. Everything is kept as “natural” as possible. Graves are dug to four and a half feet in depth and can be single or double, (double being two singles, side by side).
Burial of ashes and tree dedications are also available options. Traditional headstones are not allowed and any artificial materials or non degradable items are strongly discouraged. Graves, ashes and tree dedication sites can be marked if required by an A4 size piece of stone or slate laid flush to the ground onto which any preferred text can be added.
Purchases that are made are for an exclusive right to bury in the woodland and not for the freehold to a specific piece of land. The legal costs alone to carry out this method would run into thousands of pounds. The Exclusive right is valid for 50 years from the date of purchase.
