Situated in rural Northumberland, near Felton Village, Bockenfield Wood burial site is a former world war 2 RAF base. Permission was granted in 2000 to convert it from agricultural use to a green burial site.
Part of a former World War 2 RAF base, planning consent was given for change of use of the land into a woodland burial ground and 16,000 trees were subsequently planted to lay the footprint of the site. Made up of a mix of indigenous Northumbrian broad leaf trees these are now starting to mature nicely after early losses from hares, rabbit and rodents.
Despite its rural location the site has excellent road links directly off the A1 and the area is fairly level making access easy for all. N.W.B. is a small, independent, family run concern and is not affiliated or connected to any councils, religions or other large corporate organisations.
